DEFENSIVE DRIVING COURSE (FOR QUALIFIED DRIVERS)
There is no such thing as ‘the perfect driver’ each of us, even experienced drivers have their faults that, given a set of circumstances, will cause us to have an accident.
The purpose of ‘Defensive’ is to help and ensure that the candidate can demonstrate, unaided, a high standard of competence in handling the specific type of vehicle in which they are responsible for. The driver must be able to show that they remember the basic principles involved when Driving such Large Goods Vehicles or Passenger Carrying Vehicles, they must also Demonstrate the skills to control the vehicle in a wide variety of situations.
The driver must also be aware of their responsibilities regarding loaded LGV vehicles. or the safety and comfort of their passengers in the case of PCV vehicles.
With these thoughts in mind it’s well to remember: BAD DRIVING is BAD DRIVING in any part of the world. On any day of the year, minor mistakes may only cause the raising of a passengers eyebrow, or a small squeak of tyres, BUT given that set of circumstances, the consequences are an unnecessary toll of Traffic Accidents, Injury and even Death.
A COMPETENT DRIVER REMEMBERS HIS SKILLS AND CONTINUES TO USE AND LEARN THEM EVERY SECOND THEY ARE ON THE ROAD
